T-System Technologies, Ltd. Releases Emergency Department Information System with Electronic Physician Documentation

Dallas, Texas:  October 1, 2001

T-System Technologies, Ltd. announces the commercial release of its new Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), T-SystemEV. The new software system combines T-System templates with innovative technology designed to improve physician documentation and enhance clinical efficiency for hospitals ready to computerize their emergency departments.

"Electronic physician documentation will be the standard of the future, and we're going to play a role in making that happen in the Emergency Department (ED)," says Woodrow Gandy, M.D., FACEP, President of T-System, Inc. The company has been implementing T-System's paper based physician charting system in more than 1000 facilities over the last several years while simultaneously developing and testing T-SystemEV. "Clients have been asking when the T-System would be available in an electronic format for some time now, but we didn't want to rush its release. We'd seen too many cases where computerized charting just didn't work in the ED, leading to huge losses in terms of time and money. We waited until we had something that would truly support physicians in creating a quality record while being flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of IT configurations."

T-SystemEV's many features are client driven, says Gandy. "The software's interface is similar in look and feel to T-System's paper templates with data entry options via networked PC's or handheld units. In addition, we built in a lot of flexibility. For example, T-SystemEV can convert a completed electronic template into a prose report similar to a dictated record. On the IT side, T-SystemEV is compatible with almost all hospital information systems via HL7."

Implementations of T-SystemEV are already in progress. Staff has been added and trained and will begin providing deployment services and 24/7/365 technical support to all T-SystemEV clients immediately.

Dr. Gandy says development is continuing and includes work on additional features for physician documentation as well as a nursing documentation module. "T-SystemEV is an exciting advance for us and will be of real value to our clients. It was definitely worth the wait."
