Novant Health Inc. and
T-System Technologies, Ltd. have contracted to implement
T-SystemEV,
T-System's emergency department information system, including electronic charting, tracking and laboratory retrieval system, at Novant Health's four hospital emergency departments in North Carolina, announced Rob Langdon, M.D.,
T-System's Chief Executive Officer.
Practitioners at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina will begin carrying handheld computers right to the bedside to document care starting in September 2003. Three other Novant Health, Inc. medical centers - Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews in Matthews, and Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville will follow within a few months. These emergency departments care for almost 200,000 patients annually.
"Nurses and physicians were impressed with the usability and thoroughness of clinical documentation provided by
T-SystemEV," said Langdon. Most of Novant Health's emergency personnel currently chart with
T-System's paper templates. "They trust
T-System's history of customer service and reliability," said Langdon. He added, "Novant Health Inc. conducted a long and exhaustive study of all emergency department information systems before deciding on
T-SystemEV."
T-SystemEV will interface with Novant Health's hospital-wide information system, "Lifetime Clinical Record," a product of Siemens Medical Solutions Health Services Corporation.
