Emergency physicians at
Manatee
Memorial Hospital and Health System in Bradenton, Florida are now documenting electronically with
T-SystemEV, the electronic charting, tracking and laboratory retrieval system developed by
T-System Technologies, Ltd.
Physicians at the 56,000 annual patient volume emergency department are keeping up with technological advances, having documented patient care on
T-System's paper templates since 1999. Recently, they decided to put aside the clipboards and take up handheld computer tablets and chart at the patient's bedside.
"We wanted a complete, defensible medical record, and we have a better opportunity to provide complete documentation with
T-SystemEV," said Steve Watsky, M.D., FACEP, Medical Director of the emergency care center at Manatee Memorial Hospital. He added, "Documentation of the clinical course is now superior." Though only the physicians are now charting with
T-SystemEV, Watsky reports positive feedback from the facility's emergency nurses. "They like the legibility and the physician's discharge planning," said Watsky.
Founded in 1953, Manatee Memorial Hospital is a 491-bed, full service, acute-care facility with over 1400 employees. The staff of the recently renovated and expanded emergency department works closely with other in-house specialists, specifically on "brain attack" and "heart attack" teams, offering rapid, cutting edge intervention for patients with strokes and heart attacks. Manatee Memorial Hospital received a "Gold Seal of Approval" from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
