Effective immediately,
SoterionRTS, (Rapid Triage System), a web based program developed by emergency department nurses for faster, more reliable E.D. triage will be available only through
T-System, Inc. Currently available as a stand alone product,
T-System's goal is to integrate SoterionRTS with
T-SystemEV, as part of its comprehensive charting, tracking and reporting EDIS.
Suzy Wier, RN, a
T-System's vice president calls SoterionRTS "brilliant." She adds, "
T-System and
T-SystemEV were developed to improve upon inefficient, unreliable E.D. documentation, SoterionRTS was developed to address over and under-triage issues which slowed down the E.D. and had the potential to negatively affect patient care. SoterionRTS is 'the better mousetrap' for triage," referencing several benefits of SoterionRTS triage, including improved throughput and reduction in the number of patients who leave without being seen.
SoterionRTS, developed by Dr. Peter Maningas, an emergency physician , is an algorithmic, chief complaint based program. Its question and answer design offers decision-making support of appropriate triage assignments made by busy nurses that can impact over-all E.D. patient flow. The program has received high praise from current users, having triaged more than 175,000 patients. According to Dr. Maningas, "Triage nurses don't want to be without it. The bottom line is that the right patient sees the right person at the right time, in the right place."
Rebecca McNair, MD, president of Triage First, Inc. describes SoterionRTS' ability to incorporate protocols, clinical pathways and standing orders as "priceless in addressing the needs of overcrowded emergency departments." Her firm utilizes the application for online triage education.
SoterionRTS is currently available as a stand alone product, implemented alongside
T-SystemEV's EDIS. Full integration with
T-SystemEV is expected 3rd quarter 2005.
SoterionRTS is headquartered in Joplin, Missouri.
