Effective immediately, T System for Nurses is making available a template set that incorporates a facility coding model known as Threshold Leveling. Threshold templates offer the same ease-of-use and proven content of the original T System for Nurses while incorporating additional elements that make it easier for users to assign ED facility levels. New and existing clients will be able to choose which T-System nursing template sets will work best for their facility.
"Our ability to offer our clients this option is right in line with our ongoing efforts to provide the easiest, most efficient documentation tools available," says Linda Denton, T-System Vice President, Paper Customer Care. "Incorporating Threshold Leveling elements into T-System Nurses Notes speeds the coding process and eliminates potential coding errors associated with inaccurate assessment of the nursing resources involved in a patient's care."
"The basics of each set are the same," says Denton. "Nurses will find our threshold nursing templates as easy-to-use as ever." She goes on to explain the difference between the original T-System nursing templates and threshold templates. "Threshold template users will see a number (1 through 5) or 'cc' for critical care next to various items throughout the set corresponding to elements of patient care. These digits represent the appropriate coding level for that nursing service." According to Denton, the result is that a completed threshold template clearly shows whether the requirements have been met for coding a patient's visit at a particular E&M level.
Initial response to T-System's Threshold Leveling templates has been overwhelmingly positive. Threshold client facilities report significant improvements in reimbursement, and a national billing company has seen an increase in reimbursement in the millions. Denton adds, "What we're most excited about is the fact that T-System has developed yet another way of helping ED nurses work more efficiently. With these templates, the burden sometimes associated with assigning an appropriate E&M code has been lifted. The guesswork is gone. Now ED nurses can use that time and energy where it's needed most - in patient care."
Clients using electronic Nursing Notes as part of T-System's EDIS, The T SystemEV®, can expect Threshold Leveling templates to be available in late 2006.
