T-System recently attended the 5th annual International
Emergency Catastrophe & Management Conference & Exhibition (IECM) held in Dubai
April 10-12. In addition to attending the conference, T-System CEO Rob Langdon, M.D.,
was invited to lead an educational session on the benefits of electronic documentation.
A primary focus of IECM 2006 was the new Emergency and Accident Trauma Center at
Dubai’s Rashid Hospital. Many conference topics revolved around the new center and
helped draw a large number of conference attendees that included physicians, nurses,
rescue and relief workers as well as other medical professionals and students. The trauma
center is set to open later this year.
Langdon’s presentation emphasized the benefits of technology in today’s busy
emergency departments. “Patient safety and facility efficiency are among the most
challenging daily issues that EDs face. Fortunately, evolving technology greatly lends to
improving and standardizing the quality of care in the ED,” Langdon said.
“The paperless ED isn’t just about eliminating paper records - even as it is a fantastic
benefit- it’s more about repairing crucial ED problems,” Langdon explained. “That was
our focus, to prove that it is possible to provide proficient patient care while successfully
managing a busy ED.”
T-System also had the chance to demonstrate both its paper and electronic solutions to a
40-member leadership team while on a tour of Rashid Hospital. “We wanted to showcase
the advantages of first implementing T-System’s paper templates, then transitioning to
The T SystemEV® [T-System’s electronic documentation solution],” said Suzy Wier, TSystem
vice president of sales, who presented T-System’s paper templates before
Langdon demonstrated the features and functions of T SystemEV.
“The paper-to-electronic transition allows users to first familiarize themselves with TSystem’s
template layout and content and appreciate the impressive level of charting
efficiency it affords,” Wier said. “T SystemEV represents the next logical step in the
evolution of ED charting by combining T-System’s unmatched content and ease-of-use
with the technological advancements many clients seek.” Wier, who called the trip to
Dubai a great success, added, “The opportunity to present T-System products to
conference attendees in Dubai and the staff of Rashid Hospital was a unique and exciting
experience. T-System’s features and benefits never fail to strike a chord with emergency
care providers looking for solutions that work in the ED, and our audience in Dubai was
no exception.”
The IECM exhibition consists of over 50 profiles of companies from across the world and
is aimed at establishing a common platform for industry professionals to exchange
experiences in the field of emergency medicine as well as to showcase their latest
offering in industry-related technology. The three-day annual event is organized by the
Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) in Dubai in collaboration with
UAE-based humanitarian and relief agencies and is held under the patronage of H.H.
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Minister of
