T-System, Inc. announced today the commercial release of T-SystemEV v2.5. The latest version of T-System's comprehensive Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) offers a number of enhancements requested by clients and will serve as a bridge to the upcoming release of T-SystemEV v2.6 scheduled for release in Q4 2006.
"T-SystemEV v2.5 offers enhanced features on several fronts," says T-System Chief Operating Officer Mike Hansen. "Some of our clients requested stronger password functionality to address their unique HIPAA-related concerns. Version 2.5 incorporates more robust password selection requirements, an important element of data security."
From a physician perspective, v2.5 offers users a "floating viewer" feature - an at-a-glance visual overview of open templates. "This function is especially useful to physicians who supervise residents and mid-level providers. Supervising physicians are now able to see active templates complete with markings and notes," Hansen explains.
Nurses using T-SystemEV v2.5 will also enjoy enhanced functionality in the form of "Nurse Feedback." "Depending on the site's requirements v2.5 can check templates for information required by Joint Commission or for coding purposes and advise the nurse of any deficiencies before the chart is locked and/or the patient is discharged," says Joe Lastinger, vice president of product management and marketing at T-System. "Nurses appreciate seeing clearly what additional information is needed to complete a chart - it saves time and makes charting easier."
In addition to these enhancements T-SystemEV v2.5 includes a long list of features developed in response to client requests and market demand. "We're proud of this milestone and busy working on the next, even more exciting phase of T-SystemEV - v2.6," says T-System President Woody Gandy, MD. According to Gandy, T-SystemEV v2.6 will include all the features of v2.5 plus the highly anticipated T-SystemEV component for Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE). "Version 2.6 will also introduce T-SystemEV's Core Clinical Data Module which will provide physicians and nurses a centralized place to enter and access important patient information about vital signs, drug allergies and current medications." Gandy says that T-System is on track for the v2.6 release near the end of this year. "It's a very exciting product and will be well worth the short wait."
Prior to the release of T-SystemEV v2.5, the 603 Clinical Content release became available to clients in April of this year. Highlights include (1) several new physician templates - Pediatric Spell / ALTE, Pediatric Nasal FB / Nosebleed, Pediatric Near Drowning; (2) enhanced capability for Med Reconciliation (nursing and physician); (3) content modifications to support nursing feedback at patient discharge - important clinical items such as missing triage vitals, medications, allergies, infectious disease screening, abuse screening, safety measures and others; (4) thrombolytic therapy for stroke with inclusion and exclusion criteria (physician); (5) template specific "return as needed" instructions (physician); (6) a number of additional ExitWriter discharge instructions; (7) many other enhancements and fulfilled client requests.
