T-System is proud to announce the 100th implementation of The
T SystemEV®, a comprehensive emergency department information system (EDIS), at the HealthONE Swedish Southwest ER in Littleton, Colo.
To acknowledge the landmark implementation, Melisa Ambers,
T-System Project Manager, provided the ED with an afternoon celebration. "This was a huge achievement for
T-System to launch our 100th
T SystemEV site," Ambers said. Celebratory activities included cake, a toast, large balloons denoting "100," and a catered lunch. The celebration was kept a surprise to treat the staff on their "Go Live" day. "We wanted to make this special for the facility in an effort to show our thanks for choosing
T SystemEV. They [the ED staff] were excited and very appreciative of the reception," Ambers recalled.
The implementation of
T SystemEV was also a success by offering the opportunity for improved documentation. "I think it's going to allow the doctors to finish the documentation at the time of the patient's visit and that should be an advantage to their primary care and referring doctor. They'll be able to see what we've done the same day instead of a delay," said Mark Kozlowski, Medical Director at Swedish Southwest ER. "So far, so good," he added.
Curt Johnson, RN, the Nurse Manager at Swedish Southwest ER also appreciates the immediacy
T SystemEV offers. "The biggest advantage is that I can come in the next day and look at the documentation on my computer without having to hunt down a medical record," Johnson explains. To ease the transition to
T SystemEV, the ED physicians and nurses familiarized themselves with the layout and content of
T-System's paper charting templates prior to implementing the EDIS. This helped clinicians in several ways, including reducing the initial learning curve and anxiety of "Go Live" day.
When searching for an EDIS,
T-System's reputation certainly played an integral role in the process, according to Vicki Owens, Swedish Southwest's ED Director. "We looked at a lot. This one
[T SystemEV] certainly had the most ease-of-use. It's intuitive, it's quick," said Owens, who also recognized another important aspect to the
T SystemEV implementation. "I think the training was great. Everyone has been incredibly flexible. We have a very big staff and they
[T-System] did as many classes as we wanted, all times of the day and night."
T-System is pleased with its accomplishment in providing valuable electronic documentation solutions to EDs nationwide. "We are excited and honored to have reached this milestone. One hundred sites, that's impressive to us and significant in the industry. This fuels us in our continuing effort to offer the best ED solutions possible. We look forward to the day when 200 sites achieve success with
T SystemEV," said Mike Hansen,
T-System's Chief Operating Officer.
