T-System, Inc., the nation's largest provider of emergency department (ED) clinical documentation, announces a long-term agreement with TeamHealth, the nation's largest provider of hospital-based clinical outsourcing to hospitals and other healthcare providers, to support TeamHealth's Patient Safety documentation initiative. The Patient Safety documentation initiative achieves several key objectives, including highlighting patient safety, enhancing documentation of physician services, reducing risk and improving compliance.
Through the agreement, T-System will provide The T System® for Emergency Physicians clinical documentation solution customized for TeamHealth's enterprise and site-specific needs. T-System will also provide implementation services, ongoing updates, training and periodic documentation review services. The agreement provides TeamHealth an opportunity to participate in the design, deployment, updates and data set of the customized solution, as well as provides a pathway to an electronic medical record in the ED.
"We evaluated our options very carefully over a number of months and concluded T-System delivered the clinical documentation solution for the ED that comprehensively addressed our needs", says Greg Brown, M.D., FACEP, director of clinical informatics, TeamHealth. "Their T System for Emergency Physicians solution has been used in over 250 million ED visits over the last 10 years including in a number of our client sites. We found T-System able to leverage this experience yet embrace a number of clinical strategies important to us in the template designs. Additionally they demonstrated the capacity to design, customize, deliver, update and support our client sites nationally in a high-quality way.
"The Patient Safety documentation initiative includes implementing strategies that assist clinicians in retaining a cognitive blueprint of a patient's visit. The T System's spatial design allows us to provide this blueprint." says Gar LaSalle, M.D., MFA, FACEP, and chief medical officer, TeamHealth. "
"We commenced the Patient Safety documentation initiative as a win-win-win proposition", says Lynn Massingale, M.D., FACEP, chairman and chief executive officer, TeamHealth. "This initiative will benefit our client hospitals, our affiliated physicians and other clinicians and their patients. Over the years T-System has delivered for us, and we are confident that together we can continue to make a positive difference in emergency medicine through this initiative."
"T-System is honored and proud of the nearly 10-year relationship we have had with TeamHealth and its clients. This agreement strengthens and deepens that relationship. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with TeamHealth and its clients on this important initiative." said Suzy Wier, T-System's chief nursing officer and senior vice president of relationship management and sales.
The solution is available for implementation across the TeamHealth network of clients. Implementations are currently underway at a number of client sites around the U.S. TeamHealth and its affiliated physicians and client hospitals will collaborate to determine when and how the T System will be implemented based on each site's priorities and objectives.
