The T SystemEV® Highlighted in Medical Computing Review Article

Dallas, Texas:  May 07, 2007

T SystemEV, the emergency department information system (EDIS) by T-System, Inc., was recently highlighted in a published article by Dr. Mark Parker from Cheshire Medical Center, where the EDIS was implemented over a year ago. The article, “Choosing and Installing an EDIS: One Emergency Department’s Story,” was published in the open access publication, Medical Computing Review.

The feature details the journey of an emergency department and their quest to find an EDIS that not only met their clinical, administrative and IT needs, but one that fell within their budgetary boundaries as well. After a 13-year evaluation of EDIS’s that included attending the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) annual conference numerous times and seeing the EDIS work in a live environment, the ED of Cheshire Medical Center implemented T SystemEV in early 2006.

Dr. Parker, Medical Director of the Emergency Care Center of Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock-Keene, in Keene, NH, offers valuable insight for other ED managers considering an EDIS. Pointers include when to start planning, who to involve, the importance of Information Services, training, types of vendors, why to see an EDIS live before you make a decision, and more.

Additionally, Parker summarizes the T SystemEV implementation and the many results achieved in their emergency department after the integration, which include more complete nursing documentation, quicker physician documentation, the dramatic effect on dictation, as well as a 15 percent increase in billable relative value units (RVUs) and stronger management reports. “Now, almost a year later, we are still happy with T-System. Our institution praises the installation of our EDIS as one of the smoothest implementations of any department in the medical center – it really was near-flawless,” Dr. Parker said.
