T-System Provides Fast Route to Meaningful Use Reimbursement

Dallas, Texas (July 23, 2010) – The recent release of the Meaningful Use Final Stage 1 criteria sent a clear message: emergency department participation will be vital to success.  In particular, an emergency department information system (EDIS) can be the key to a hospital’s ability to meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use requirements. T-System, Inc., the industry leader in clinical, business and IT solutions for hospital emergency departments (EDs), is uniquely positioned to accelerate hospital compliance with Stage 1 requirements.

“For hospitals to meet Meaningful Use standards, the ED will play a critical role if you have an EDIS that addresses the requirements,” said Robert Hitchcock, MD, T-System’s vice president of solution management. “Hospitals will be required to collect and share information in a codified manner, such as capturing 80 percent data for medication, problem and allergy lists and demonstrating system interoperability, and the right EDIS can satisfy those requirements. With our EDIS, T SystemEV®, hospitals can meet all the requirements for Stage 1 and more. In fact, we’re currently positioned to enable hospitals to meet 100 percent of Stage 1 Meaningful Use criteria, and do so in remarkable time.”

Speed and efficiency are critical in demonstrating Meaningful Use. So when the clock for Meaningful Use starts ticking on October 1, 2010, T-System will be able to get hospital EDs up and running rapidly because it has one of the fastest implementation times in the industry. This means that hospitals can meet the 90-day continuous use requirement sooner and receive full Meaningful Use reimbursement earlier than they thought possible.

“T-System can help a hospital meet the requirements quickly because we can get them on a path to demonstrating 90-day Meaningful Use faster than anyone, said Dr. Hitchcock. “This is largely due to the fact that we have the most comprehensive clinical content out there, and it’s ready for use on day one. This means clinicians won’t have to spend valuable time building out content. This is how we can boast one of the shortest implementation times in the industry.”

With the largest ED client base in the country, T-System has created the standard for clinical content, which is in use at more than 1,800 facilities across the country.
