T-System Acquires PMA

On Jan. 6, 2012, T-System, Inc. acquired Practice Management Associates (PMA), a company that specializes in providing medical coding and billing services. T-System's decision to acquire PMA is rooted in our desire to extend our market presence and provide a single vendor solution for the emergency department (ED).

Hospitals and providers are under significant financial stress due to growing patient volume, lost revenue and increasing costs. Looming industry changes such as ICD-10 will intensify these pressures and increase the need for solutions that help manage and improve hospitals' and providers' revenue cycles. This acquisition will enable T-System to offer solutions that solve for potential revenue and productivity losses, eroding reimbursement and the impending coding staff shortage. In other words, T-System will be uniquely positioned to connect the upstream clinical documentation processes with downstream medical coding and billing processes.
