  • Stage 1 Meaningful Use requires 40 percent of prescriptions to be sent electronically.
  • E-prescribing is also required by the 2012 CMS e-Rx Medicare Incentive Program. CMS will apply payment adjustments to providers who are not successful e-prescribers.
