Elizabeth Hampton, Manager, Executive Administration

How do you focus on health and wellness?
I focus on nutrition, which I believe is 75 to 80 percent of living a healthy lifestyle. I'm a vegetarian, which can make finding ways to meet my protein, omegas (3, 6, 9) and iron consumption levels challenging. It's very important to make sure I have a balanced intake of nutrition to fuel my body appropriately. I believe in monitoring portion control, drinking lots of water and staying away from sugary drinks. I also limit myself to no more than two cups of coffee per day.

Do you incorporate exercise into your health and wellness regimen?
Yes! I play tennis and coach beginner's tennis (ages 4-18) for a local nonprofit organization. In addition to pounding the tennis court, I've picked up running three to five miles a few times a week. I am proud to say that I successfully finished my first half marathon last year!

What tips do you have to share about health & wellness with The Informer readers?
Be a student for life. It's important to stay on top of health, nutrition and physical activity recommendations for your age and gender. Stay current with visits to your medical professionals – make sure you go in for an annual checkup and if you are referred to a specialist, go see them. If you've been identified as having any health issues or risk factors, read up on ways to improve your health and decrease your risk to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Do you have any health & wellness goals for 2013?
I am going to focus on my running endurance. I'm also going to incorporate more strength training in my exercise routine and continue to improve my nutrition. I can never stop learning, growing and pushing myself.
