This month, we focused on a few documentation tips for nurses. Please check out our new Nurse Tips courses:
Nurse Tip – Fracture Care
While the physician is responsible for stabilization or immobilization, the nurse or tech should still document the application of the splint. This course reviews the documentation steps for the nurse or tech.
Nurse Tip – Glasgow Coma Score for Pediatrics
On some occasions, you may find that you have selected an adult template for a pediatric patient. Instead of pulling a new template, this short course demonstrates how to document a pediatric Glasgow Coma Scale when using an adult template.
Nurse Tip – Tetanus Administration
In this course, we show you how to document a tetanus immunization so that it will continue to show in the problems list for future visits.
COVID-19 Discharge Instructions
Exit-Writer updates the discharge instructions as new information becomes available related to COVID-19. Currently, we monitor these updates quarterly, making them available to our clients.
For this quarter (Q 1) there are no new instructions, but these instructions were modified:
- Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): Overview
- COVID-19: Vaccines and Prevention
- Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): Caring for Yourself or Others
- Covid-19 and the Flu: What’s the Difference
- Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): Pregnancy and Childbirth
- Understanding the mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine
These modified instructions are not available in EV, so for clients that want to include them, we recommend adding them as customized discharge instructions for COVID-19.
To retrieve the Exit-Writer COVID-19 discharge instruction file: EV Help > Help Topics > EV Administration Help > Tools > Discharge Instruction Manager > Create custom instructions > COVID-19 PDF discharge instructions (see screenshot below)
EV Help describes how you can create customized discharge instructions: EV Help > Help Topics > EV 6.1 Admin Help > Tools > Discharge Instructions Manager > Create custom instructions
Cloud-based clients should reach out to Client Support to create, edit, or customize your discharge instructions.

Learn About the T System Solution Autonomous Coding Engine
The T System Solution utilizes an Autonomous Coding Engine (ACE) to significantly reduce and eliminate labor intensive and error prone tasks in the coding process. Utilizing the documentation from The T System, our Autonomous Coding Engine performs clinical concept extraction across structured and unstructured documentation. The engine then automates all aspects of the workflow across coding and charge capture.
Featuring an almost 700% increase in productivity, the ACE also:
- Reduced Cost: Retrain and Repurpose Staff
- Enhanced Manageability: Auditability and Transparency & Extensive Reporting / Analytics
- Standardized Rules: Improved Compliance and Quality Reduced Training
Please consider joining our webinar on Tuesday, April 12th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM CST, to learn more about the functionality of the engine and how it can impact your facility.
